Venida Daugherty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 17, 2017.

Venida Onell Rambo Daugherty of Cleburne, formerly of Burnet, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017. She was born July 12, 1928, in Izoro, Texas to Jack and Ola Rambo. In her youth, Venida was a talented athlete, playing on a traveling basketball team and later on bowling. She moved to Burnet to work in her uncle's cafe, which is where she met the love of her life, Aaron. She married Aaron B Daugherty on July 23, 1947 and they cherished 64 years of marriage when he passed away in 2012.

Venida served her family with faith and strong values for many years as a stay at home wife and mom. She was a pillar of support and dependability for her grandchildren and extended family as well. She was involved in many community activities, including working with the Girl Scouts and a lengthy service on the Herman Brown Library board in Burnet, Texas. She loved gardening, sewing (even having a thimble collection!), and traveling with her family to the Southwest region of the United States.

Venida is survived by her sister Delores Muckleroy, daughter Pamela Daugherty, Grandchildren, Chris and Sara Roberts of Burleson, Jessie and Sondra Roberts of Grandview, Rene and Colby Harlow of Cleburne, Great Grandchildren, Zachary Harlow, Aaron Harlow, Gavin Roberts, and Levi Roberts. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Aaron B Daugherty, and daughter Phyllis Daugherty.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home at 2pm, preceded by a visitation from 12pm-2pm. Burial will be at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet, Texas.

Our deepest thanks to the nurses and staff of Encompass Hospice of Cleburne for their loving care of Venida.
