A beloved father, grandfather, brother and son, Veo Lamar Puckett, 83, left for Heaven on Saturday evening, August 17, 2013 in Twin Falls, Idaho, with his daughter by his side. Veo was born December 7, 1929, in Sheridan, Arkansas to the late Fred and Beatrice (Barnes) Puckett.
Veo graduated from C.K. McClatchy Senior High School on June 12, 1947. He was an outstanding athlete, with letters in swimming and track. After graduation, Veo joined the U.S. Navy and did two tours, totaling four years, proudly serving his country. After two honorable discharges from military service, Veo held a variety of jobs before beginning his favorite career as a truck driver and spent 36 years as a member of the Teamsters Union. A majority of those years were spent transporting produce throughout central California and provided Veo an opportunity to meet and make friends with countless people. Throughout Veo's life, he treasured time spent with his family and friends and was always ready for a rousing game of poker or a good horse race.
Veo is survived by his two beautiful children, daughter Jennifer (Devon) Cruise of Jerome, Idaho and son Jade (Tahnee) Puckett of Walnut Grove, Missouri; four amazing grandchildren, Bryon (Victoria), Taylor, Regan, and Jaelyn; his loving sister, Jeannette McConnell; cousins and life-long friends Loran "Lefty" (Sandy) Sheppard and Bud (Shirley) Barnes; nieces and nephews Jim (Dee), Roy, Carla, Rick, Troy and Cheryl, as well as numerous extended family members and longtime friends. Veo was preceded in death by his parents, brother Sam, and nieces Darla and Linda.
Memorial services for Veo L. Puckett will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, located south of Hansen, Idaho. Additionally, a memorial plaque will be placed on the "Wall of Remembrance" at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, Idaho.
