Vera Louise Barnes, age 84, of Valdese, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 5th 2010. Vera was born the daughter of the late, Will Heffner and Katherine Candace Epley Heffner on October 7th 1926 in Marion. She was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed growing flowers and caring for animals.
Along with her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Francis Barnes; a son, Johnny Maxie Barnes; five brothers and three sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include a son, William Michael Barnes of Valdese; two daughters, Brenda Parham and her husband, Bruce of Icard, and Angela Danner and her husband, Doug of Valdese; 13 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 9th 2010 in the Chapel of Valdese Family Funeral Care with the Rev. J.R. Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
