Alexander, Jr., Verdon “Don” E., 83, passed away July 16, 2014, in Tampa, Florida. He was born in Middlesboro, KY on October 12, 1930. His family moved to Chattanooga, TN where he grew up. He graduated McCallie Military School, class of 1948, moved to Atlanta, GA and graduated Emory University Class of 53’ school of business. Employed by Sears over 22 years brought him to Tampa in 1967, later he became a Real Estate Broker and Realtor specializing in commercial Real Estate & earned CCIM designation. Alexander, Jr., Verdon “Don” E., 83, passed away July 16, 2014, in Tampa, Florida. He was born in Middlesboro, KY on October 12, 1930. His family moved to Chattanooga, TN where he grew up. He graduated McCallie Military School, class of 1948, moved to Atlanta, GA and graduated Emory University Class of 53’ school of business. Employed by Sears over 22 years brought him to Tampa in 1967, later he became a Real Estate Broker and Realtor specializing in commercial Real Estate & earned CCIM designation. He enjoyed his profession and the respect of his peers. Over his lifetime he was actively involved as a member of Phi Delta Theta, Lions Club Civitan, Greater Tampa Assn. of Realtors, Florida Gulfcoast Commercial Assn of Realtors, National Assn of Realtors, Florida Realtors, National CCIM & Florida Chapter CCIM, Methodist Men where ever he lived and Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verdone and Charlotte H. Alexander, Sr.; Barbara B. Alexander (1st wife) and his son, T. Andrew Alexander. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Alma James Alexander, sons, Brian L. Alexander (Lynn) and Carter Alexander (Karen); step-son, Edward W. James; step-daughter, Kathryn N. James; daughter-in-law, Connie Alexander; grandchildren, Trevor, Tracie (Rob), Benjamin & Sarah Alexander, Amanda & E. J. James; sister, Eleanor Cunningham; nephew, Rhine Cunningham; sister-in-law, Judy (Jesse) Armstrong. The family will receive friends for the visitation on Friday, July 25, 2014, 5:00-8:00 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa, FL, 33618. A memorial service will be on Saturday, July 26, 2014, 10:30 AM at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher Avenue, Tampa, FL, 33618.
