Verna Margaret Allen, 94, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Homestead of Sherman. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 20, 2014 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William L. Ashburn IV officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Verna was born in Denison Wednesday, July 9, 1919, the daughter of Charlie Guy and Minnie Pearl Allen. She lived in Denison all of her life; attended Denison schools and was a graduate of Denison High. Verna Margaret Allen, 94, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Homestead of Sherman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 20, 2014 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William L. Ashburn IV officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.

Verna was born in Denison Wednesday, July 9, 1919, the daughter of Charlie Guy and Minnie Pearl Allen.

She lived in Denison all of her life; attended Denison schools and was a graduate of Denison High. She had been a member of the County Extension Office and had served in all of the offices; was a member of Governor Steven's state commission for the aging; served in all of the offices of the Grayson County Federation Club, serving as president twice. Verna was organist, treasurer and secretary at the church office of the Seventh Day Adventists in Denison.

Her love of animals was dear to her heart and she grieved to see animals mistreated.

She is survived by two nephews, Dr. Jack C. Allen of Burleson Texas and Dr. Larry G. Allen of Tempe, Arizona; two great nephews, Jay Allen of Woodland Hills, Colorado and Dr. Chad Allen of Loma Linda, California.

She has many, many cousins that she dearly loved: Karen Trammel & husband Lynn, Rhonda Armstrong & husband Tim, Donna Nora & husband Dr. Fred Nora, Harold Pace, Jr. & wife Shelley, Bill Ashburn & wife Yvonne, Bill Ashburn IV & wife Julie, Brian Ashburn & wife Delinda, LeeAnn Ashburn, Don Ashburn, Sr. & wife Priscilla, Don Ashburn, Jr. & wife LaDonna, Brad Ashburn, Amy Davidson & husband John, Debbie Foster & husband Ed.

She is preceded in death by cousins Peggy Ashburn Skaggs & husband R. L., Sharon Gentry and Harold Pace, Sr.
