Vernon Patterson Bass ended his earthly life and entered his heavenly home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on October 9, 2013.
Born in Charlotte on October 5, 1932 he is the son of the late Alfred and Lillie Bass. Pat was a proud 1950 graduate of Charlotte Technical High School. He retired from Winchester Surgical Supply after 39 years of service. He had been a member of Charlotte First Baptist Church and held positions of deacon, usher, and lead senior adult exercise program. His joy was spending time with his family, many special friends and golf buddies. He adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Melton and grandson David Bass. Pat leaves a wonderful legacy in his precious family which includes his wife of over 57 years, Linda Stikeleather Bass; sons, Rev. Stephen Bass and wife Pam; Dr. Robert Bass and wife Tammy; his beloved grandchildren, Matthew Bass and wife Rebecca; Dr. Stephanie Bass; Jonathan Bass and Rebekah Bass; his adorable great- grandchildren, Vivian Bass, Ezekiel Bass, and Allison Michael Bass. He also leaves brothers Marvin Bass and wife Delois and Wayne Bass and wife Mary.
A memorial service will be held at Charlotte First Baptist Church on Saturday October 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Family will receive friends following service in the fellowship hall.

Charlie Jr Brown
Pat was a beautiful example of how a man should live. He influenced my life in a wonderful way. His peace throughout his fight with cancer and the way he experienced physical death was a remarkable testimony to his relationship with Christ.
