Vernon Virgil Kinsey, 89, of Lone Oak, Texas passed away on December 19, 2017. He was born on August 17, 1928 in Bromide, Oklahoma to Virgil Quincey and Isabell Rowland Kinsey. Mr. Kinsey served in the Armed Services for 23 months where he fought in the Korean War. Immediately on his return home from Japan in 1952, he married Betty Jo Knowles of Mesquite and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. He loved country music and was a member of the Tawakoni Playboys where he played the steel guitar and later went on to play the electric guitar and bass. Vernon Virgil Kinsey, 89, of Lone Oak, Texas passed away on December 19, 2017. He was born on August 17, 1928 in Bromide, Oklahoma to Virgil Quincey and Isabell Rowland Kinsey.
Mr. Kinsey served in the Armed Services for 23 months where he fought in the Korean War.
Immediately on his return home from Japan in 1952, he married Betty Jo Knowles of Mesquite and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
He loved country music and was a member of the Tawakoni Playboys where he played the steel guitar and later went on to play the electric guitar and bass.
He was a member of the Hopkins County #180 Masonic Lodge for 24 years where he served as Tyler, Senior Deacon, Senior Stewart, and Master Mason
His greatest love was his large family and he looked forward to having the whole family get together as often as possible. He leaves a lifetime of memories and stories that will be passed down for generations to come.
He is survived by his wife Betty, son Larry Kinsey and wife Marie of Lone Oak, son Ronny Kinsey and wife Monica of Terrell, daughter Denise Fulk and husband Harold of Paris, son Kerry Kinsey and wife Sherry of Kaufman, son Jeff Kinsey and wife Traci of Cumby, brother Kenneth Kinsey of Gun Barrel City, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Mr. Kinsey was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters, and one great grandchild.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Audie Gilbreath officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Bull Creek Cowboy Church in Lone Oak and also one hour prior to the service in Canton on Saturday.
Pallbearers will include grandsons; Jason Petty, Aaron Kinsey, Jake Petty, Josh Petty, Cody Kinsey, and Dillon Kinsey, with Blake Langford and Tyler Childers serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
