Obituary

Vernon Andrew Wagoner, 79, of Ooltewah, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2013. He was born July 17, 1934, son of the late Andrew Clayton Wagoner and Vivian Vernon Wagoner. He was a life-long resident of Ooltewah, graduated from Ooltewah High School, attended maintenance school and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked for Western Union for 13 years, traveling extensively in the United States, England and Spain. He later retired from Sun Trust in Chattanooga after 27 years. Vernon Andrew Wagoner, 79, of Ooltewah, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2013. He was born July 17, 1934, son of the late Andrew Clayton Wagoner and Vivian Vernon Wagoner.

He was a life-long resident of Ooltewah, graduated from Ooltewah High School, attended maintenance school and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked for Western Union for 13 years, traveling extensively in the United States, England and Spain. He later retired from Sun Trust in Chattanooga after 27 years. He was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church for 55 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Wagoner and Bill Wagoner; sisters, Lillie Davis, Thelma Ritchie, Evelyn Holsomback and Fairie Kellerhals.

Survivors include Shirley Wagoner, his loving wife of 57 years; sons Vernon "Andy" Wagoner II, (Maureen) Ooltewah; Alan (Angie) Wagoner, Ringgold; grandchildren, Lindsey Wagoner, Alishia (Scott) Holcomb, Chelsie Wells, Katlyn and Cynthia Wagoner, Austin Landgraf, great-granddaughter, Aubrhy Holcomb and sister Betty Ann Wagoner.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 15 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Valley View Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, October 16 at Ooltewah Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Gaither officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Ooltewah Baptist Church (R3 Building Fund), 5514 Main St., Ooltewah, TN. 37363
