Obituary

Anniston- Funeral services for Dr. Veronica (Ronny) Carr, 69, of Anniston will be Monday, January 28, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston, Rev. David Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 28 at the church from 12:30 pm until service time. Dr. Carr passed away January 23, 2013 at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston. Dr. Carr is survived by her husband, William Carr; mother Marie Moley; sister Janet (Danny) Baker; brother Theo Moley; brother-in-law Joel Carr; and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew. Dr. Carr passed away January 23, 2013 at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston.
Dr. Carr is survived by her husband, William Carr; mother Marie Moley; sister Janet (Danny) Baker; brother Theo Moley; brother-in-law Joel Carr; and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
Dr. Carr is preceded in death by her father, Col. Charles Moley (USAF Ret.) and brother, Richard Moley.
Ronny earned her BSE from Southwest Texas State University, MA from the University of Texas at Austin, and Ed. D. from Auburn University. She retired from the Calhoun County School System where she held positions as Assistant Principal of Saks Elementary School, Principal of Walter Wellborn Elementary School, and Director of Instructional Services. Prior to employment with the Calhoun County School System, she was an Assistant Professor at Auburn University in Montgomery.
Ronny was a strong advocate for children with special needs. She received the Truman Pierce Award for outstanding services to Special Education in Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Huey Brown, Ben Character, Robert Hymer, Steve Jacobs, Allen Smith, and Earl Wade.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the League of Animal Welfare, 2726 Bynum Leatherwood Rd., Anniston, AL 36201 or to the Learning Disabilities Association of America, 4156 Liberty Rd. Suite 3, Pittsburg, PA 15234.
