Vickie Truett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2014.

TRUETT, Vickie Ann, age 58, resident of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away after an 11-year battle with Ovarian cancer on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at home under the care of Hospice of Dayton. She was born September 23, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Fred and Allie (Stearns) Lawless. In addition to her father, Vickie was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Margie Truett and Prentiss Richardson. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Maurice "Doc" Truett; daughter, Christina Jakobsen and son-in-law, Martin Jakobsen of Miamisburg; son, Tony Truett of Huber Heights, OH; daughter, Angela Truett of Kettering, OH; foster son/grandson, David Truett; foster daughter/granddaughter, Mikayla Truett; grandson, Nathan Truett; granddaughters, Karma and Serenity Truett; brother, Rick Lawless of Louisville, KY; sisters, Judy Elam of Middletown, Ohio and Freda Lawless of Middleton, Idaho; numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews. Vickie graduated Springboro High School in the class of 1974. She was a devoted stay-at-home Mom for many years. She began working at National City Mortgage in 1992 as a Collections Specialist and eventually became a Loss Mitigation Specialist before leaving in 2004. She was a long time Baptist and enjoyed singing in church and in church choirs. For the last few years she was a member of Victory Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible and doing Bible studies. She was a voracious reader and especially enjoyed Science Fiction and Fantasy books and Christian fiction. She loved music and found great comfort in listening to inspirational music throughout her illness. But foremost in her heart was always her family. She devoted the final 10 years of her life to raising her grandson, David and granddaughter, Mikayla. She was an amazing, loving, funny, smart and strong wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend and her family will miss her immensely for the rest of their lives until we are reunited. The family would like to thank Pastor Butch Mullins and the congregation of Victory Hill Baptist church for their support and prayers throughout this last year. They would also like to thank Hospice of Dayton and the Crisis Care nurses for their hard work, wonderful care and nurturing spirits. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, March 24, 2014 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Victory Hill Baptist church of Miamisburg. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery following services. My beloved sister, my best friend. May God welcome you with open arms and may you rest in peace. You will leave a void in my life until God calls me home, too. You were a wonderful, kind, fun-loving soul who would do anything and everything for those you loved. I feel so proud and honored to have you as my sister on this Earthly plain, and comforted that you will always be my sister of my heart in the Spiritual one. See you soon, sis, God speed!

My sister, my best friend, my heart! You are the smartest, strongest woman that I will ever know. No one can ever fill those shoes. Heaven now has a wonderful and wise angel. I will forever miss you until God calls me home. May you all find peace and comfort knowing she is surrounded by His Heavenly Angel's and with our beloved dad, Fred Lawless, and of course our Lord and Heavenly Father. <3
