Victoria "Vicki" Anne Baker, 64, died peacefully of anaplastic thyroid cancer at the home of Gordon and Janet Beard in Edmond, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 26, 2016. She is survived by her husband, Randall "Randy" Baker, her two sons, Jason and Travis, her older brother William "Bill" Neilson, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dogs Milo and Winston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip C. Neilson and Joanna Burns Neilson.
Vicki was passionate about books and never found a book that she didn't enjoy. Her love of reading began as a student at John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, where she graduated in 1970. She owned a book store named The Book Rack in Oklahoma City near Lakeside Theater in the 1980s. Her favorite author was Emily Bronte, but she also enjoyed later contemporary novels, including
the Harry Potter series, Game of Thrones series, and Into Thin Air. Subsequently, she sold her book store to further her education and became a registered nurse. As a RN, she was responsible for the care of some of the most critically ill patients in both the ICU and the oncology ward at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling. Her favorite vacations were trips to England, Scotland, Ireland, and the Caribbean.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at the Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 4:00pm.
