Vincent F. Canole, "Sonny," age 93, of Westport, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Lois A. (Hall) Canole to whom he has been married for the past 69 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Doyle) Canole, he was a longtime resident of Fall River before moving to Westport.
Mr. Canole attended B.M.C. Durfee High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II as a Machinist Mate First Class. He worked as a groundskeeper for over 35 years at Montaup Country Club before retiring in 1995, prior to that he worked at the Newport Naval Base.
An avid golfer, he was a lifetime member of the Montaup Country Club and a member of the D.A.V. Chapter 8 in Fall River. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by many nieces and nephews including Barry S. Hall of East Providence, his son Barry J. Hall of Riverside and his daughters Danielle Hall and Jai-Lee Davis both of East Providence, and Dorothy Pires and her husband Jim of Dartmouth. He was brother of the late Joseph Canole, Theresa Chasse, Anne Costa, Helen Jalbert, Dorothy McCartney, and Mary K. Simpson.
His Funeral will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 10:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00PM. Burial Private.
