Francis Vincent Lafferty was born February 12, 1934 in Plainfield, NJ to William and Helen Lafferty; the fourth of four children. Vince passed away on August 11, 2014 at his home in Snohomish, WA, where he had resided for the past 58 years. Vince grew up in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1952. He then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country on the Cruiser USS Pittsburgh during the Korean War. Francis Vincent Lafferty was born February 12, 1934 in Plainfield, NJ to William and Helen Lafferty; the fourth of four children. Vince passed away on August 11, 2014 at his home in Snohomish, WA, where he had resided for the past 58 years. Vince grew up in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1952. He then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country on the Cruiser USS Pittsburgh during the Korean War. While stationed in Bremerton, WA, Vince met Marie Wicklund; they were married on St. Patrick's day 1956. Upon settling in Snohomish, WA, Vince began working at the Weyerhaeuser Kraft Mill in Everett in 1957; he retired in 1992 after over 35 years of service with Weyerhaeuser. He was a long-time member of the Weyerhaeuser Bowling Team; spending many enjoyable hours at Tyee Bowl. Vince and Marie were also members of the Snohomish Senior Center. They enjoyed monthly breakfasts and he spend many Wednesday afternoons playing poker. He enjoyed working in his yard, watching the Seahawks, the Mariners and "his girls" (the Seattle Storm). He liked playing cribbage, shopping and going to Ocean Shores, but most of all Vince enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Vince is preceded in death by his beloved son, Dennis who passed away in 2001. He is also preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Rudy and Laila Wicklund; his brothers John and Bernie and sister, Mary. Vince is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marie; his son, Thomas and his daughter; Janice Stjern (Jeff). He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Irene Flom; brother-in-law, Wayne Wicklund (Linda); daughter-in-law, Holli Waggoner (Stan); his grandchildren, Tristan Johnson (Dylan), Kelli Elsasser (Brent), Katy Mullin (Kalan Johnson), Patrick Lafferty (Brionna), Jesse Mullin (Hannah Sharpe); and his great grandchildren, Connor, Gavin, Macy, Cameron and Oliva. He is also survived by his special niece, Kathleen McShea and by many other extended family members. Please gather for a Memorial Service to celebrate Vince's life at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett, www.evergreen-fh.com, on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 1:00pm. A reception will follow Vince's service. Vince has previously been laid to rest at the G.A.R. Cemetery in Snohomish, WA.
