A retired Shop Foreman with Polk/Gerry Lane Chevrolet with over 37 years of service, he died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 78 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, September 7, from 5pm to 9pm, with recitation of the Rosary at 7pm. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, on Thursday, September 8 from 9:30am until funeral Mass at 11:00am, with the Rev. Mike Maroney, celebrant. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park following Mass. Survived by a daughter, Laura Levraea Sisemore and her husband Dale; three sons, Vincent J. (Jay) Levraea, Jr. and his wife Nancy, Todd J. Levraea and his wife Tracy, and Shane J. Levraea; sister, Virginia L. Messina; five grandchildren, Maeghan Whiteaker and husband Michael, Ryan and Trey Levraea, Joshua Carr, and Sarah Levraea; two great-grandchildren, Finn and Amilya Whiteaker; in-laws Rudolph and Doris Boullion; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life for 49 years, Joyce Boullion Levraea; father, Joseph Levraea; mother, Mary Zimmarro Levraea; sister, Mary Margaret Levraea; and brother, Luke Levraea. Pallbearers will be Joshua Carr, Trey Levraea, Michael Whiteaker, Daniel Boullion, Sammy Rispone, John Desselle, Fred "Boomer" Charleville, and Bob Schorr. He was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed dancing and fishing at every opportunity, and spending time with his family. He loved being "PawPaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they loved spending time with him in return. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Gerard Majella and St. Alphonsus Liguori parishes, and was active in the Men's Club and Primetimers Club at St. Alphonsus. He looked forward to helping make cookies for the St. Joseph's Alter each year. He was a 1951 graduate of Istrouma High School and former pitcher for University of Southwestern Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baton Rouge Food Bank in his memory.
