Vincent Oldham, 82, of Bethel, husband of the late Jeanette R. Oldham, passed away at Danbury Hospital, on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
Vincent, son of the late Francis and Mary Ellen Oldham, was born and spent the majority of his life in Danbury. He attended Danbury High School and after working at the family-owned Acme Laundry, he worked as a maintenance mechanic for the City of Danbury.
Vincent is survived by two sons, Shawn Oldham and wife Tess of Brookfield and Chris Oldham and wife Kelly of Brookfield, three grandchildren: Maddy and Billy Oldham and Christopher Sweet. He is also survived by his brother Francis Oldham and wife Jeanette of Southbury, CT and their two children FJ and Kathleen and their families. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, friends, family and his caregiver Juliana.
Vincent loved horse racing and was a huge NASCAR and Formula One fan. He was a longtime supporter of the Danbury Soap Box Derby, helping each year if his children or grandchildren were entered or not. He was a fixture at all of his children and grandchildren's sporting events. If you weren't his friend it just meant you hadn't met him yet.
Funeral services will be held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his name to Greater Danbury Soap Box Derby Association, P.O. Box 394, Danbury 06813, or Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100 Rocky Hill CT 06067.
