Viola White Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 16, 2016.

Viola M. White, age 87, of Brimfield passed away and went home to be with Jesus Thursday, September 15, 2016 10:55 at her daughter’s home. She was born February 24, 1929 in Pekin to Curtis and Luella (Brown) Morgan. She married Gail White on August 29, 1958 in Peoria.

Surviving is her daughter, Denice “Dee” (John) Patroff of Brimfield, grandson, John Gail Patroff of Brimfield, one sister, Marie Smith of Washington, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gail White, two brothers, Charles Morgan, Curtis Morgan, and two sisters, Carol Krusa, and Betty Wriedt.

Viola worked at Caterpillar in the canteen for 33 years and has been a member at Bethany Baptist Church since 1948. She was a great servant of the Lord volunteering in many ministries providing meals, rides to/from church, and visiting many in hospitals and shut-ins.

Viola stayed in contact with everyone in her family, foster family, and in-laws. She hosted large gatherings at her small house that would concern a fire marshal. She always insisted that you sit down and eat something. It prompted a plaque to be placed over the kitchen table, “Grandma White’s Feed the World Foundation: Keep eatin’ til I quit passin’.”

She was a strong prayer warrior that will be missed by so many. However, we are also rejoicing her freedom from this fallen world and her wonderful family reunion in Heaven.

The family would like to thank OSF Hospice, especially Susan and Angie for their amazing, loving care over the 14 months. Dr. James Adams, Dr. Sader, Dr. Veeder, and Dr. Gumm for the many years of care.

Services will be Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11 am at Bethany Baptist Church on Hienz Lane in Peoria, IL officiated by Pastors Gary Hutton and Lyall Sutton. Visitation will be one hour earlier at 10 am. at the church. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Primetime Seniors, or OSF Hospice.

Vi was like a sister to me & my siblings. She made every occasion a happy, memorable time. It was never really Easter until Vi and her sisters arrived at our house early in the morning. Why Vi & Gail wanted to have Sunne & I come visit them in the summer, I'll never know but it they made those few days so much fun for us. I'm sad that she's no longer here but glad that she's in Heaven enjoying peace w/no pain. Our thoughts and prayers are with Denise, John & Johnny and with her extended family.

Dear Denice and family

We just found out your mother has past. Too late to be there in person to honor her but know our thoughts and prayers are with you. It has been 44 years since we have been neighbors. What a special time that was, a really special group of life time friends. Even though we have not been together in a very long time you have always been and always will be a big part of our hearts. Love you

She was my favorite Aunt. Always so kind, never heard a word out of her against anyone. Loved her from the first time I met her, I was 17, and the tag along chaperon for Gail and her dates that first year. So glad we had some quality time in June on my last visits to Peoria. Love you all, praying for you always,
