Viola Van Dora White Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 22, 2018.

VIOLA VAN DORA COOKERLEY WHITE, 89, Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 22. She was beloved by her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends who all share their own very special memories of times spent with her. Her faith and love will be missed.
Viola was a homemaker and a renowned seamstress who fashioned clothes, from everyday sportswear to wedding dresses, for her children and clients. Having a special needs child (Serena) whom everyone loved and adored, Viola was instrumental in establishing the first Sunday School class for special needs children at Skycrest Baptist Church in the mid-1960s. Viola's legacy is her steadfast faith which she imparted to her children from their early upbringing.
Viola was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Serena Ann White; husband, Durward Dwight (D.D.) White; sister, I. Louise Pierce; mother, W. Irene Williams Bailey; and father Clyde John Roy (Toby) Cookerley. She is survived by four beloved daughters, Judy Lynn Burton Davis (Haskel), Sherridan Burton Revell (Jim), Susan Patricia Burton Whitmore (Dee) and Regena Dee White Stefanchick (Steve); one sister, Vickie Brackett (Roby); seven grandchildren Chris Davis, Tracie Spencer, Jackie Coté, Amberlea Coté, Hollie Coté, Joshua Coté and Natalie Coté; and five great-grandchildren, Taryn Spencer, Teagan Spencer, Theresa Serena Coté, Airella Johnson and Yhanté Webb.
Visitation is held at 2:00 PM followed immediately by a funeral service at 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 28, at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Arc Tampa Bay (formerly UPARC, Inc.), thearctbfoundation.org, a major support to daughter Serena Ann.

Dear Family of Viola White, Viola was such a special person and we count it a blessing to have known her. We had a lot of wonderful talks when we were giving her a ride to North Dunedin Baptist Church. We will always remember her as a kind, loving, Christian lady....may she rest in peace with her dear Savior Jesus Christ. See you in Heaven dear friend, Avis and Jim Grunstra

Although no words can take away the sorrow that you bare. May it be comforting to you to know that others care.
May time heal your sorrow, May friends ease your pain.
