Violet Branum Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2017.

Connersville, IN

Violet M. Branum, 89, of Connersville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday afternoon, September 12, 2017, at Heritage House of Connersville.

On December 15, 1927, Violet was born in Rushville to Henry C. and Georgia A. Newland Morgan. She was a 1946 graduate of Connersville High School. On June 3, 1951, Violet was married to Elvin "Bud" Branum, who died November 12, 2010. In 1993, she retired as payroll clerk from Dresser Roots, following twenty-seven years of employment. As a member of Park Place Church of God, she served as organist for several years and occasionally as the pianist. Violet's love for playing the piano extended to her home, where she played to relax. She enjoyed cooking and took pleasure in being hospitable for her family and friends. Violet's selfless demeanor was displayed in her extensive charity work. In her leisure time, she liked to read and solve word searches.

Violet is survived by her sons: Danny J. Branum and his wife, Manya of Connersville; Ricky L. Branum of Lubbock, Texas; Terry L. Branum of Connersville; her grandchildren: Philip Branum; Danielle Branum-Burkeen and her husband, Andy; her great-grandchildren: Xavier Banks; Brayden Conley; Colin Branum; Nathan Branum; Clara May Burkeen; her great-great granddaughter, Ella; her sister-in-law: Marcie Branum of Jefferson City, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and her best bud, Maggie.

In addition to her parents and husband of fifty-nine years, Violet is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Monroe, Delmar, Dennis and Howard C. Morgan; Nancy Teague, Leah Early, Emma Fields and Elizabeth Morgan; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ralph Branum, Rufus Branum, Jr. and his wife Betty; Alva L. Branum and his wife, Leola; Josephine Hancock, Anna Louise Cook and Rosemary Branum.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Park Place Church of God, Connersville with Pastor Jeremy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in East Hill Cemetery, Rushville, Indiana. Friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville where memorial contributions may be made to the Park Place Church of God Scholarship Fund. Danny, Rick and Terry,
I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Violet's passing. I so remember Sunday nights after church going either to your house or ours for some kind of dessert. Aunt Violet or Cathy would play the organ and the Short Quartet would practice songs for the next Sunday morning service. Long time ago memory's but never forgotten. My heart goes out to all of you. The elders of the church our on their way to glory one by one. Love you Aunt Violet, we will all see you someday. Elvin , my daddy. Merrill and Morrison, Bernard and many others are preparing the organ for your homecoming.

Violet was one the kindest and most compassionate woman I have ever been around. She taught me a thing or two growing up at Park Place. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Branum family.
