JOHNSON, Virginia D., 91, of Dayton, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was a 1941 graduate of McCreary County High School in Kentucky. Virginia worked at NCR for four years after moving to Dayton in 1948, but most of her life she was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and India Downs, brother Paul Downs, sisters Jessie Thompson and Betty Slagle, and son-in-law James Jones. She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years Walter C. Johnson, Jr. She is also survived by her son Larry Johnson (Judy) of Oak Hill, Virginia, daughter Pamela Jones (Robert Cottrell) of Centerville, Ohio, grandchildren Matthew Jones (Heather) of Centerville, Ohio, Jason Jones (Yza) of Otterbach, Germany, Sheridan Johnson and Lucas Johnson, great-grandchildren Yzabella Jones and Talon Jones, and dear cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Virginia was a talented seamstress and an avid reader of Western novels. She also enjoyed gardening and spent many summers cultivating vegetables. Virginia dearly loved to travel and was ready to go at any time! She was blessed to explore 48 states, Canada, Mexico and Europe. The family would like to thank the staff of Walnut Creek and Hospice of Dayton for their loving care of Virginia and extend appreciation to the students of Oakwood High School, St. Luke Elementary School and the Dayton LaSertoma Club for their kind gesture while Virginia resided at Hospice. Family and Friends may call at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Avenue at Rahn Road, Dayton, Ohio on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm followed by a funeral service at 7:30 pm, Pastor Jerry Siler officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420, are appreciated. Online condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
