Virginia E. Akers, 89, of Louisville passed on October 3, 2012.

She was a member of Beulah Land Bible Baptist Church and retired from Central State Hospital after 32 years of service.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Akers; her parents, Vergil L. and Nerva B. Goodman Embry; 2 brothers, Everett Embry and Shurl Embry and a sister, Shelby Swift.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Dutli (Ronald); grandson, Ronnie Dutli (Lynn); grandaughter, Tammy Block (Paul); great-grandaughter, Kelsy Dutli; 3 sisters, Irene Pike (Robert), Marcella Collins and Ruth Johnson (David); brother in-law, Bill Swift and caregiver and special friend, Lillie Rawlins.

A service to celebrate the life of Virginia will be conducted at 10:00 am Monday, October 8, 2012 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Sunday.

In lieu of customary expressions of sympathy memorial gifts can be made to Beulah Land Bible Baptist Church. Please visit us at www.archlheadywestport.com to leave a condolence for the family.
