Virginia Kathleen King-Bauer is survived by her children: Roger (Penny) King, Randall (Carol) King, Robin (JoAnn) King, Paul Bauer and Sharon (William) Taylor; granddaughters: Abigail (Myke) Brown, Sarah (Jeremiah) Knox, Lauren King and Lindsay King; grandson: Benjamin (Jackie) King, great-granddaughters Cassandra King, Arya King and Lucy Virginia Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents J. Merle and Ethel Eckels, brothers: Robert Eckels and James Eckels, her first husband, Archie L. King, who passed 26 years to the day of Virginia, second husband Charles A. Bauer, and her daughter Laurel C. King.

Although qualified to teach home economics, Virginia chose to stay at home to raise her four children. After this, she returned to graduate school for a Masters degree in vocational rehabilitation, followed by nearly 25 years as a counselor for the Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio.

Mom was above all compassionate, towards her children, towards her clients, and towards many others in her life. She was diligent in navigating through tough situations in life. She loved learning, especially vocabulary. She loved to cook, to garden, and to sew. She loved her grandchildren, and consistently made time for them and their special events. Most importantly, she was a praying mother, and her prayers were effective, as her children can attest. Mom expressed her faith in Jesus Christ in her church, and in all of her life's adventures.

Family and friends will be received at 10 A.M., with the service at 11 A.M., Monday, July 14, 2014, at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg (419-874-3133). This will be followed by a luncheon at Perrysburg Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 10401 Avenue Rd., Perrysburg, with a procession from the church to Toledo Memorial Park at 1:30 P.M. for the graveside service. Contributions may be made to: Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio or to Perrysburg CMA Church-Missions.
