Virginia O'Rourke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2014.

Virginia Middleton O'Rourke, a sweet, gentle and wise woman, passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Golden on July 13th. Born Virginia French Middleton in New York City, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Smith College in 1946. Virginia married William O'Rourke on October 19, 1946. Over the years and with sons Paul and David, "Bill" and "Ginny" called Philadelphia, St. Louis, upstate New York, Wisconsin, Ontario, Canada, and then Maryland, home. In Harford County, Maryland Virginia found a true calling in community service. The list of organizations to which she volunteered her time and energy are as numerous as the many years she devoted to them. Husband Bill (October 2005) and son David (August 1979) preceded her in death. Virginia is survived by her son, Paul, daughter in-law Melinda, and grandchildren, Davis and Catherine. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Vision Health International, P.O. Box 597, Grand Junction, CO 81502, or the Harford County Public Library Foundation, 1221-A Brass Mill Road, Belcamp, MD 21017
