Obituary

Virginia "Miss Virginia" Piasky passed away suddenly on March 14, 2014. She was born to the late Elder D. Bursch and Alice Zierman Bursch in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Henry; son, Jeffrey (Katka); daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Lynch; grandchildren, Aiden and Riley Lynch; sister, Sandy (Roger) Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Virginia attended Valparaiso University where she received a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in child psychology. Virginia "Miss Virginia" Piasky passed away suddenly on March 14, 2014. She was born to the late Elder D. Bursch and Alice Zierman Bursch in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Henry; son, Jeffrey (Katka); daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Lynch; grandchildren, Aiden and Riley Lynch; sister, Sandy (Roger) Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Virginia attended Valparaiso University where she received a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in child psychology. She taught in public schools in Indiana and North Carolina.

In 1993 "Miss Virginia" started a "3's and 4's" preschool class as part of The Lutheran Church of Vestavia Hills (Alabama) Mother's Day Out program. In 1996 she became director of the MDO program and retired in 2007.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.

A memorial service will be Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at The Lutheran Church of Vestavia Hills, 201 South Montgomery Highway, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216. Lunch will follow in the church fellowship hall.

On Friday, March 21, 2014, a private burial service will be at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Lutheran Church Vestavia Hills "Project Hope" ministry at the church's address shown above.
