Catherine Virginia Caylor Russell – age 94 of Nashville passed away on August 6, 2014. She was born on August 7, 1920, in Dalton, Georgia. She was the oldest daughter of six children, born to the late Catherine Blackburn Caylor and James Phillip Caylor. She was a graduate of Bradley County High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, William Patterson Russell, Sr., who was the founder of Russell Home Builders and built residential home for many years in the Nashville area. Catherine Virginia Caylor Russell – age 94 of Nashville passed away on August 6, 2014. She was born on August 7, 1920, in Dalton, Georgia. She was the oldest daughter of six children, born to the late Catherine Blackburn Caylor and James Phillip Caylor. She was a graduate of Bradley County High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, William Patterson Russell, Sr., who was the founder of Russell Home Builders and built residential home for many years in the Nashville area. They had been residents of Nashville since 1940.



She is survived by her three children, William Patterson Russell, Jr. (Lynne), Melba Russell Blevins (Bill) and Robert Gerald Russell (Colleen). She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Marian Russell Eidson (Michael), Cindy Russell McGinn (Kevin), Brad Blevins (Kim), Jill Blevins Keogh (Brendan) of Bloomfield, Colorado, Clay Blevins, Richard Russell (Abby) and Catherine Needham (Grant) both of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She also had eleven great-grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her two sisters, Frances Caylor Wrinkle of Chattanooga and Margaret Caylor Lee of Cleveland, Tennessee. Virginia was preceded in death by her three brothers, James P. Caylor, Jr., Robert F. Caylor and Raymond B. Caylor.



Virginia was a long-time member of St. Paul Southern Methodist Church where she participated in many activities of the Women of the Church and enjoyed working in the church library for several years. She was a member and President of the Forget-Me-Not Garden Club. She loved gardening, flower arranging and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She adored her grandchildren, and they will always remember the loving care she gave to each of them as they grew up. The family wishes to gratefully thank the many caregivers who gave her such special care over her last years. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.



A private family graveside service will be conducted at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at eleven o’clock in the morning with Dr. Ronald Carrier officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St. Nashville, Tennessee 37203 or the charity of your choice.
