Virginia Lucille White, age 85, of Greencastle, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2014 with her family at her side.
Born April 18, 1928 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Arvel and Zella (Thomas) Roach. She married Delbert White on August 5, 1945 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1995.
Lucille retired from the Greencastle Community Schools in the early 1980's, having worked as manager of the kitchens at Miller and Ridpath Schools. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty (John) Clements; a son, Michael (Cindy) White; brother, Tom (Suzy) Roach; sister, Mildred (Chet) O'Neal; grandchildren, John (Amber) Hecko, Brett (Kerrie) Hecko, Samantha (Josh) Richardson, Katie White, and Sam White; great grandchildren, Ben & Abby Hecko, Lily Richardson, and Wilson & Leo Hecko; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Katherine Marshall & Margaret Underwood; a brother, James Roach; and a great granddaughter, Lucy Bea Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Davies officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am on Tuesday until time of service at the funeral home
