Volney P. Barnett, 90, of New Harmony, IN, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Deaconess. He was born April 27, 1920, in White Plains, KY.
He was a long time member at Christ Temple and enjoyed volunteering his time helping others. He enjoyed working hard and believed in being loyal to his job. He worked for the EVSC for 32 years.
Volney was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Clara; wife, Modell; three brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his sons, Paul W. Barnett (Juanita) and Howard Barnett (Patricia Ruth); four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Greg Morrison, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Deaconess Hospital Unit 5100 for their compassionate care.
