. William Curtis Tucker, 84 years old, died Sunday night, 5/25/14 in the Senior Care Center in Brunswick. He was born in Manatee, Florida, November 23, 1929; he was the son of William Claude Tucker and Edith Jewell Dupree Mizell. He was predeceased by his mother and Father, daughter Patty Otwell, 2 sisters, Mildred Wynn and Millie Young, and step-mother, Pearl Tucker. Survivors include; His wife Gloria Readdick Tucker, Daughter Mrs. Mary (Bill) Mott of Hahira, GA, Son Michael Curtis Tucker of Scottsdale, Arizona; Grandchildren Zach and Lauren Hawkins of Brunswick, GA; Devon Mott of Hahira and Dillon Mott of Columbus, GA. He was born in Manatee, Florida, November 23, 1929; he was the son of William Claude Tucker and Edith Jewell Dupree Mizell.
He was predeceased by his mother and Father, daughter Patty Otwell, 2 sisters, Mildred Wynn and Millie Young, and step-mother, Pearl Tucker.
Survivors include; His wife Gloria Readdick Tucker, Daughter Mrs. Mary (Bill) Mott of Hahira, GA, Son Michael Curtis Tucker of Scottsdale, Arizona; Grandchildren Zach and Lauren Hawkins of Brunswick, GA; Devon Mott of Hahira and Dillon Mott of Columbus, GA.
He was formerly a City Fireman, a Glynn County Policeman and a Deputy Sheriff with the Sheriff's Department in Brunswick, Ga. He retired in 1992 as Tax Commissioner of Glynn County after 16 years.
He was a member of the County Officers Association of Georgia and the Georgia Association of Tax Officials. He was a past master of Ocean Lodge 214, F. & a.m. and a past President of the Mental Health Association of Glynn County. He was a member of College Place United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, Past-President of the Methodist Men's Organization. He also served Chairman of the Pastor-Parrish relations committee in the past many other areas of service over the years.
He was very active in the Community for many years.

Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm, Friday May 30th at Miller Funeral Home. Services will be May 31st at 10:30 a.m. at College Place United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Chapel Park Cemetery with Masonic Rites at graveside.
Donations may be made to College Place United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
