I met Walt 20+ years ago at a Fort Wayne law firm, he did investigative work and/or took recorded witness statements that I would type. He was such a kind, caring man and treated every witness with utmost kindness and respect, even if they weren't happy to be hearing from him. What a dear soul he was, I have never forgotten him. What an amazing legacy he leaves, may his family be blessed with peace in the days ahead.

I knew Mr. Stout when I was a senior in high school in Richmond, Indiana, 1967-68. He was one of the advisors of TAC (Teenage Council). We all looked up to him as he was a great advisor and leader. Condolences to Mr Stout's family.

Walt was an amazing man. He spoke to NOrthrop students in my history class about what it was like on D-Day in Normandy and all the way through The Bulge. Walt, thank you for your tireless service. May you find rest you humble servant.

I was a young punk with a smart mouth when I met Officer Stout. He was very patient with me (when he could have slapped me silly). He was a man's man and he showed me how a man should act. Over the years I have thought of him and the example that he set. I am now 69 years old and still grateful to Officer Stout for helping me to grow as a human being. He will never know how many youngsters he helped like he helped me. May he rest in peace.

I have such great memories of Mr. Stout...first as the young daughter of a City Councilman that worked with Mr. Stout as he led the development of traffic safety in Fort Wayne as well as the concept of timed traffic lights. Then we became reacquainted as he volunteered for over 30 years as a guest speaker for Driver Education classes at Fort Wayne Community Schools. His message on safe driving was never old, and the impact he has had on hundreds of young drivers continues on today on the streets of Fort Wayne. We have lost a good one. "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

I am very sorry my wife and I can not attend Walt's funeral as I considered him a good friend even thought I was his pastor for many years while serving Messiah Lutheran. He was our regular "Reader" for many years at our Praise Service, a position he enjoyed and I appreciated. He was a classic gentleman. I still cherish our relationship.
