William Marshall was born March 24, 1917. He was the second son of William and Daisy Marshall. William had two brothers, Alex and Jack. He had two sisters, Margaret and Florence. William served with honor during World War II with the Canadian navy from 1939 to 1945.
William married Jean Mildred Ariss and they had three sons, Herbert William, John Michael, and Walter Steven. Herbert and John were born in Toronto Canada. Walter was later born in the United States.
In 1950 the family left Toronto, Canada and emigrated to the United States. Their first residency was in Phoenix, Arizona. After a short stay the family moved to Southern California where they remained. The family eventually moved to Temple City in the San Gabriel valley where the three sons grew up and went to school. As they came of age, all three sons served in the United States military with honor.
William made his living as a commercial artist. His talent as an artist was not only applied to commercial illustration, but he produced very fine works of art as well. William will be best remembered as the originator and illustrator of "Charlie The Tuna" of the Star Kist Tuna brand.
William lost his wife Jean in 1995 after 56 years of marriage. He is survived by sons Herbert and his wife Lola, John and his wife Jeanmarie, Steve and his wife Joyce. Two Granddaughters, Andrea, Renee and Renee's husband Richard (Rick). Two Great grandchildren, Heather Marie Jones and Richard Allen Jones III (Ricky).
William has "crossed the bar" and may he have fair winds, calm seas, and a pilot to guide the way.

"I miss you Uncle Bill." Pam Champagne (Covina, CA)
