PETRY – William E. (Bill) was called home by our heavenly Father on February 25, 2014. Beloved husband for 69 yrs to his loving wife Faith. Devoted father to Patricia and husband Neil, William Jr., and wife Christina, Debra and husband Harry. Adored Grandfather of Neil Jr., Lisa, David, Charles, Richard, Karina, Sydney, Jenna and Amanda. Loving Great-Grandfather to Vincent and Christy. Bill was a proud veteran of WWII, volunteering at age 17. He served in the US Navy and saw action in the European Theater including the D-Day invasion of Normandy. After the war he joined United Parcel Service (UPS) alongside founder Jim Casey. Bill was a major contributor to the company’s success. After his retirement, Bill and Faith traveled the world and then relocated to Florida from New York. Always deeply committed to his family he insisted (with no excuses) on taking everyone on a reunion cruise every year. Bill inspired all who knew him with his positive outlook on life, his generosity, his tremendous work ethic and strength of character. Through our tears, we celebrate his life. Viewing will be held at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, on Wednesday, March 5, and Thursday, March 6, from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Service will take place on Friday, 11am, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Orlando. Entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha. Arrangements entrusted to Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home. 407-898-2561.
