Biography

Mr. Walter R. Allen, 75 years of age, passed away at the North Vista Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 24th while his second oldest daughter sat at his bedside. Mr. Allen was born March 23, 1936 in Canton, Mississippi to Ollie Earl Allen (father) & John Willie Staton (mother), who preceded him in death. Mr. Allen was employed with City of Las Vegas Police Department from 1963-1974 as a Police Officer, worked in the casino industry for 20 yrs. and worked as a Security Officer with Culinary Union for 5 yrs; he enjoyed sports and poker tremendously. Mr. Allen married Myrtle Allen-Pridgett in March 1956 and they moved to Las Vegas in July, 1961; out of their marriage 9 children were born and divorced after 24 years of marriage. Mr. Allen is survived by his children: Evelyn Washington (Curtis), Debra Allen, Steve Allen (Yvonne), Karen Smith, Hattie Brown (Harvey), Mary Allen, Ethel Reese (Archie), twins Brenda & Linda Allen and three sons Water Martin (Jr), Robert Martin and Emery Martin (Tenisha).

Also survived by one sister Adrian Allen and brothers Ollie Earl Dunlap, Talmus Dunlap (Della), Roy Allen (Aunt Mattie), Eddie Joe Whitfield, Greg Allen (Elaine), Jim Moore, Julius Jones & BC Whitfield who preceded him in death. mr. Allen leaves eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren that he cherished dearly, with a host of nieces, nephews and friends that loved and care for him.
