Wanda June Hillis, age 85, of Peoria, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 at 8 p.m. at Heartland Manor Care in Peoria Heights.
She was born Feb. 23, 1932 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Lena Dobbs. She married Jim Hillis on April 1, 1950 in Poplar Bluff. He passed away in 1995 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Debra Wolf, one brother and six sisters.
Survivors include two daughters: Norma (Dana) Hogge of Peoria, Shirley (Gene) Cardwell of Bethalto, IL, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Wanda first worked as a chef at Deluxe Café in Peoria for 22 years and later at Peoria Heights VFW Post 2602 for 21 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Peoria Heights VFW Post 2602.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services. Rev. David Bowman will officiate.
Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the family.
