On May 14, 2017, the Lord Jesus called Darlene home, and all of Heaven joyfully welcomed her.
Darlene was born on Nov. 27, 1945 to Richard and Wanda Lamb (Layton) in Bremerton, WA.
All who knew this rare and precious woman understood what a true blessing she was. She was quick to give to those in need, not caring about her own sacrifice. She refused to see the negative in people, always looking past their brokenness, and instead focusing on their potential. She lived a generous life, never taking more than she needed and willing to give all she had. Darlene was an amazing example of true beauty, kindness, courage, and inner strength.
Darlene will be remembered for her sense of fun and adventure, never turning down a chance to show her playful side. She raised her kids to dance, even when everyone else was sitting. She was unconventional and quirky, from gardening to panning for gold and playing Bingo to deep-sea halibut fishing; everything she did was her own way.
Darlene's legacy lives on through her cherished family. Her loving husband Alfred Ophaug, her mom Wanda Carmean, her sisters Vicki and Patricia, her children Ron Williams, Jr, LaDonna Herbrand (Williams), Stacy Griffith (Williams), Lana Maxey (Williams), 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and the many many beloved friends whom she considered family.
Darlene was a treasure to this world and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Mom,
I keep thinking about one of our last conversations. Al and I had just gotten back from the thrift store and you asked with anticipation what I had found. When I replied "nothing, it was all junk", you just couldn't believe or accept that there wasn't some hidden treasure there waiting to be found. When I think about this now, I see this is how you approached life. There are hidden blessings all around us, we just have to see it through the junk. YOU were the treasure Mom. I will live with the regret that I didn't tell you often enough how much I loved you and how my soul longed to be close to you. Please forgive me. I love you forever.

Mom, I wish I could have told you one more time how much I love you. You have taught me so much by your actions. You really had a way with loving everyone. You were fun to hang out with. I remember going rollerskating and you taught yourself how to go backwards. The cool mom! Or when our power was out, we lit candles and played board games. Music was always on at our house and you would dance to every song! You tried to make every negitve situation in to positive. You did overcome so much in your life. You have proven that people can change. I know that you are in a better place, you are healthy! I can see you running and dancing and so happy! I can't wait to see your beautiful face again.

Al Ophaug; Darlene is not suffering any more and i know she is where the good people go; i am going to miss her more than i can say. The sign up above says send flowers ; but we are not having a showing at the funeral parlor. There will be a memorial held at a later date; we will post it on Face book. If you have a story you would like to tell about your experience with Darlene;here is your chance.
