Wanda Sue Bateman, 63, of Laramie Trail, died at 1:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Bateman was a homemaker and helped her daughter Tina as the cook at Hartsville Sweets pastry shop in Hartsville. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She had attended Berean Bible Church, currently The Ridge, and Columbus Community Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with the Rev. Jerry K. Day Sr. officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. until service time. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at True Love Methodist Church Cemetery south of Loogootee, IN. There will be a gathering of family and friends from noon until service time at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana University School of Medicine.

Born Aug. 28, 1946, in Loogootee, Mrs. Bateman was the daughter of L. Earl and Melvada Waggoner Souerdike. She married Virgil A. "Tony" Bateman June 12, 1965, at True Love Methodist Church. He survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Tina (Steve) Vanest, and a son, Troy (Hetty) Bateman, both of Columbus; and grandchildren, Joshua Ison of Scipio, Paige Vanest and Dalton, Payton and Hunter Bateman, all of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents
