Warren Richard Wynn II (Dick) passed away on April 17, 2014 in Pompano Beach, Florida at the age of 86. He was born March 22, 1928 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to John Frederick and Katherine Quigley Wynn. His family moved to Ft Lauderdale in 1940, when they opened the Wynholm Hotel, the third hotel built on Ft. Lauderdale beach. Dick graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1946 and was a proud Flying L football and basketball player. Warren Richard Wynn II (Dick) passed away on April 17, 2014 in Pompano Beach, Florida at the age of 86. He was born March 22, 1928 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to John Frederick and Katherine Quigley Wynn. His family moved to Ft Lauderdale in 1940, when they opened the Wynholm Hotel, the third hotel built on Ft. Lauderdale beach. Dick graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1946 and was a proud Flying L football and basketball player. He was an enthusiastic University of Florida alumnus, well known for his large collection of Gator hats. He enlisted and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Dick married Jane Frances Taprell of Daytona Beach, Florida in December 1950. He was Vice President and manager of the Broward office of Stockton, Whatley, Davin, and Company Mortgage Bankers for 25 years, and after retirement served as Director of Outreach for the Broward Supervisor of Elections for ten years. He was a past president of the Florida Mortgage Bankers Association and a recipient of the prestigious Brown L. Whatley Mortgage Banking Award. He was a member of the Ft. Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Board, past president of both the Broward County Phi Delta Theta Alumni Club and Broward County University of Florida Alumni Club. Dick enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, fishing, boating, watching football, and creating adventure activities for his children and their friends. Dick was known for his great sense of humor and his infectious smile.
Dick was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John Frederick Wynn Jr. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane and children: Sally Wynn Roegiers of Palm City, Warren Richard Wynn III (Laura) of Fort Lauderdale, and William Robb Wynn (Vito) of Pompano Beach, grandchildren: Amy Roegiers Mijoskov (Danny) of Palm City, Kathryn Roegiers of Tampa, Jessica Wynn, Warren Richard Wynn IV, William Thomas Wynn of Fort Lauderdale, great granddaughter, Ava Mijoskov, his sister Martha Wynn Mills of Pompano Beach, and several beloved nieces and nephews. The children called him "Moon". He loved life and he loved people. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3rd, at 10:30 AM at John Knox Village Chapel, 200 Lakeside Circle, Pompano Beach, Florida
