Rev. Wayne Arlie Stracener, 73, a Godly man, of Six Lakes, MI, was called to Heaven on Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born August 17, 1940 in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana to the late Arlie and Lena Mae (Wood) Stracener. Wayne married Beverly Ruth Swift on June 24, 1960, in Rock Island, IL, and together they raised 7 children. He was a very uncomplaining, willing helper to Beverly. Rev. Wayne was called to preach when he was 12 years old. He earned a Bachelor of Theology from Bible Missionary Institute and was a Vice President and a Teacher at BMI for 14 years. Rev. Wayne Arlie Stracener, 73, a Godly man, of Six Lakes, MI, was called to Heaven on Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born August 17, 1940 in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana to the late Arlie and Lena Mae (Wood) Stracener. Wayne married Beverly Ruth Swift on June 24, 1960, in Rock Island, IL, and together they raised 7 children. He was a very uncomplaining, willing helper to Beverly.
Rev. Wayne was called to preach when he was 12 years old. He earned a Bachelor of Theology from Bible Missionary Institute and was a Vice President and a Teacher at BMI for 14 years. He pastored churches in Illinois, Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska and California, and was currently serving at the Bible Missionary Church in Six Lakes, MI. He worked on several mission fields including the Philippines, Guyana, Nigeria and Barbados.
Besides his parents, Rev. Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Stracener, and a sister, Norma (Bailey) Woods.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly; children: Daniel (Joanne) of Oliver Springs, TN, Judith (Morrie) Lewis of the Philippines, Nathan of Pickens, SC, Larry (Rita) of Corona, CA, Sharon (Roger II) Mertens, of Georgetown, IL, Karen (Kenneth, Jr.) Arnold of Indianapolis, IN and Pamela (Ryan) Nickel of Kingston, TN; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Terry Stracener of Westlake, LA; sister, Arlena Holcomb of Milan, IL and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake at 11a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home.
