To The Family:
When I last saw Mr. Young, as he and Mrs. Young entered the Veterans Challenge Ball in Kinston, he lit up the room with his presence. We are surrounding you with prayers as you continue his legacy with fond memories and pictures.

Uncle Bill was so special in my life. He was the epitome of honor and integrity and a standard to which I measured myself. Every visit (not nearly often enough), he and I would stay up late nights and talk. He told me stories about his time in the military and we shared our views on life. I cherished those opportunities to hear about his experiences and how he lived his life. Now missing him even more than ever, I will reflect on those nights. Thank you so much, Uncle Bill, for guiding me so many times in my life. Thank you for never hesitating to say what was on your mind and for being the man you were. I will think of you every time I reflect on the words and principles you taught me: Taizai jibun ni chujitsu. STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF! I have always loved you very much and you will remain in my heart and thoughts.

My dad was a hero in every sense of the word. The dad to my first two kids was a Viet Nam veteran who died from a dental/gum problem, that went to his heart, and the dad to my third child died from a car wreck, so my dad's influence was especially important to my three children whom are now responsible adults (Staff Sergeant Charity Hilterbrand Smith last classes of counseling Master's, Jeremiah Hilterbrand MCAS & Owner/Operator/Coach at HammerOut Crossfit in Kinston, MerryFaith Palazzo CNA). So first Dad and Mom (the love of his life for over the 62 years they were married) reared three children of their own, then were a part of the lives of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad's insistence on doing what is right, no matter, without excuse, was not advice we absolutely always followed but likely we do more than the average joe- and it is costly to sacrifice security for your beliefs. But if more people did that, what a better world it would be.

My grandaddy was always there for me and was always trying to make the whole family laugh or whoever was near him. He loved to tell jokes and he taught me how to shoot a BB gun when I was a little girl. He was very smart and could tell you how to fix just about anything, he would also love to tell you stories of when he was fighting in the wars in korea and world war2 fighting for our freedom. Another thing I admired so much about my grandaddy was how much of a wonderful husband and father he was, He was a wonderful loving husband to my grandma for 62 years they been married since she was 18 years old and would say she was his movie star and was always a great provider. My grandaddy will always have a special place in my heart.
