Obituary

After a brief illness, Wilfred passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, with his family at his side. Wilfred is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Gladys Carroll. Dear father of his sons Danny (Carol) and Allen (Denise); daughters Cathy Sweet and Nancy (Mike) Kindree; and daughter-in-law Judy Carroll. Proud Grandpa to 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his sisters Wilma (Ian) Cowan and Jean (Mark) Major. Predeceased by his son Tom, son-in-law Richard Sweet, parents T. Austin and Elsie Carroll, sisters Millie (Carl) Stevenson, Faye Carroll and brother...

Wilfred was a veteran of WWII and a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Preston Branch #126.
Relatives and friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge (519-653-3251) on Wednesday, August 6th from 6 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at Saint John's Anglican Church, 567 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilfred's memory to the Royal Canadian Legion, Preston Branch #126 or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by his family.
