Wilhelmina L. Adams, 96, passed away peacefully August 1, 2012 in her home in Neptune Beach, FL. A native of Lake Hamilton, FL, she was born on November 14, 1915. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Percy H. Adams, a brother and a sister. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Holmes (John III); a sister, Jean Dyal; grandchildren, John L. Holmes IV and Tiffany Hartman (Jalali); three beautiful great-grandchildren, Luke, Leighton, and Emma Hoey; three nieces; a nephew; and a very special "best friend" in Clayton, GA, Jimmy Osborne (94). "Miss Billie" as she was known to her friends and Grammy to her family loved the North Carolina mountains and looked forward to her yearly October trip to Maggie Valley with her husband and then with her daughter for as long as she could travel. She was an avid reader, loved to do crossword puzzles, enjoyed Big Band and Gospel music and was an excellent listener. She was known by all as a very kind and gentle lady who loved life, her family and all furry things especially, kitties. She retired from the Florida State Board of Health in 1974 after 33 years of employment as the secretary to the Director of Vital Statistics and still had that organized efficient way about her until the day she died. Her mind was sharp and clear, her sense of humor quick, and her heart was as big as the moon. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
