William "Bill" Bolls JR. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2012.

William "Bill" Judson Bolls Jr.

October 5, 1949 – November 17, 2012 …23 year resident of Kennesaw Georgia. After a three month illness, Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Vicksburg Mississippi to the late William Judson Bolls Sr. and Margaret Fuller Bolls. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1970 where he served for four years during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1974. After receiving his degree he began his career with the Department of Labor in Niles, Ohio. Bill worked for ten years with the Department of Labor in Ohio before taking the Regional Administrator position in Atlanta, Georgia where he worked for twenty three more years before retiring. Bill's main focus throughout his career was to be an advocate for Veterans and help their transition into the civilian job market. He dedicated his entire life and career to reaching out to and impacting Veterans throughout the nation.

Bill will be greatly missed for his accomplishments, and remembered for his unique sense of humor. He never let anyone leave a room without a smile or good laugh. His co-workers and friends coined this distinctive ability "Bol-erizing", a term still echoing around Veterans Employment and Training to this day; a legend not soon forgotten. From his heartfelt laughs to his sincere smiles that lit up a room turning a serious moment to light he will be greatly missed. William Bolls was truly one-in-a-million, never to be replaced. He was never shy to let you know that he believed in Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation. Because of his faith, there is no doubt he is free of illness and pain walking with our Lord in heaven.

Bill is survived by his wife Junellen Cross Bolls and his four children WilliamIII, Quinn, Patrick, and Emilee. Bill also leaves
behind four grandchildren William IV, LeeAnn, Patrick, and Colton. He is also survived by his three siblings Patrick, John, Mary-Eva and their families.

Bill's legacy will live on through the accomplishments made during his career serving our service men and women. His last wishes were for donations to be made to Wounded Warrior Program in lieu of flowers. (Woundedwarriorproject.org) Please make donations in the name of William Judson Bolls Jr.

My deepest sympathy to Bill's family. I cannot fully express my sadness at his passing. I didn't know him as well as others, perhaps, but I remember his helpfulness to me. Passing of someone we know always reminds us of our own mortality, but their life always also reminds us of how cherished their life, of whatever length, was to those of us who knew them.

My sincere thoughts and prayers extend to to Bill and his entire family. Over his many years with DOL Bill always took the time to catch up when our paths crossed....by phone or in person. The miles between us never got in the way. When I would see Bill, which was at least once a year for the past 20 years, it was always a fond memory. Bill devoted his life to those who served and his impact will not be forgotten. All of us at the Boston Region maintain a place in our heart for Bill and his family. He will be missed and today is another day we remember his countless contributions to all.

Many veterans unknown to them benefited from his believe that those who served in the Armed Forces of the United States deserved priority of service. I was fortunate to have worked with Bill on several projects and he always tried to make it about serving those who served.

I will miss him as a friend, confident and true advocate for our Nations' warriors. I was also lucky to have him in my life and he will not be forgotten.

We are friends with Bills brother, John . After reading the wonderful write-up about his brother, we feel like we knew him a little bit. I know he was a wonderful man, who will be missed so much. But what a comfort to know where he is now, with Jesus & totally healed. Our loss is heaven's great gain. Our thoughts & prayers are with you!

Bill and I met over 40 years ago when I was 17 years old. He was a young handsome sailor with a sweet smile and a personality any girl could not resist. My mom and dad said..oh no..not a sailor but a little over a year later we were married. Life happened and we were blessed with 4 amazing children that daily I thank God for. We agreed that my career was at home with the children and what a wonderful choice that was. This allowed Bill to pursue his career. When Bill started his career serving veterans he was one of the youngest men in his position in the agency and when he retired I believe he was one of the few remaining from the original "team". When he spoke with our pastor he expressed regrets and Dr. Baskin in his wisdom said we all have regrets, we've all made mistakes, if we didn't we wouldn't need our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bill smiled because he knew he was saved and that reminder gave him peace and comfort. He had once expressed a desire in our younger years to become a missionary, and yes God did give him a mission field...our American veterans who he served with respect, love and honor. He now knows in eternity how many lives he touched and how many young men and women's lives were enriched by knowing him. Bill leaves a legacy not only through his career but our 4 beautiful children, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. All of us have our own love language to show our love and Bill's was his desire and success in providing a beautiful home and security for his family. It has been a long journey to this day..total sadness and disbelief..Bill lost the battle with his illness but is victorious in Jesus Christ. I know without a shadow he is with the Lord immediately after he took his last breath..our children are such a comfort ..each has amazing qualities they inherited from their dad..Billy an amazing sense of humor..Joey kindness and generosity..Patrick a love of country and military...Emilee strong character and fortitide..of course all these qualities overlap in each of them but I see Bill in all of them and he will always be with us...the last week with Bill at home was the most precious time that none of us would trade. It was a privilege to walk through this with Bill and to be by his side to care for him, pray with him, cry with him ,hope with him and hold him. His true character showed thru, all the pain, uncertainty, poking and prodding, he would grab the hand of the doctor, nurse, or aid and say thank you...God bless you..moments of unbelievable grief overtake us at this time but we have God's promise from His Word..Bill believed that promise..we believe that promise..Bill is in eternity with the Lord..And yes in the sweet by and by we WILL meet on that beautiful shore!

I was a colleague of Bill's in the Veterans' Employment and Training Service, and his boss for many years. Bill was a terrific Regional Administrator and advocate for veterans, Reservists and Guardmembers. Thousands of men and women owe him thanks for the help that they received when they were looking for a job. Bill was a respected leader with a big heart and real smarts. He deserved a joyful retirement; I trust that he has found it now in Heaven.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bolls but I have been honored to serve with his sons, Patrick and Quinn. I believe the most significant mark a man can make with his life is his children. From what I have seen in these two men, Mr. Bolls was the kind of man we all strive to be. I am saddened to hear of his passing and my heart goes out to the entire family. May God hold you and keep you close in this difficult time.
