William "Bill" Lynch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2015.

William "Bill" Clifton Lynch, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at his home in Roswell, GA at the age of 65. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a true friend - a kind, gentle, and humorous person.
Although he had spent the last 20 years in Roswell, he was born and grew up in Lebanon, Kentucky. Throughout life, Bill returned to his hometown almost every year for celebrations with family, golf outings, class reunions, and just to visit…he loved them all dearly. Bill graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, but remained a loyal University of Kentucky basketball fan. His joy was being with family, trips to Hilton Head, UK basketball, and golf. His genuine love of his family and his friends was truly apparent to all who knew him.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972 and made his working career as a manager of operations with several companies. For the last 20 years, he worked with an aerospace metals company and was regarded by many fellow business associates as 'the best VP of OPS' working with national and international locations until his retirement mid 2013.
Bill is preceded in death by his son, Joshua Michael Lynch and his father, William C. Lynch, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Sharon A. Lynch, of 46 years; his son, William Isaac Lynch (Dana), his daughter, Amanda Ashley Lynch; his grandchildren: William Michael, Gabrielle Greer, and John Overton "Jack" Lynch. He is also survived by his mother, Naoma Shepperson (Earl), and his brothers: Danny Mitchell Lynch (Sherie) and Robert Joey Lynch (Sylvia).
A celebration of his life will be held at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA 30076 on Friday, March 27th at 3:00 pm with interment following the service at Green Lawn Cemetery. Visitation with family will be at 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.

Larry & Rita Lytle

My best friend, Bill Lynch, finished his work here and has accepted a new assignment with Jesus Christ.

Bill was my "boss" in the Navy at NAS Oceana (the best boss I ever had). He and Sharon were there when I met my beautiful wife, Rita (and told me I needed to marry her - though I would have anyway). I followed him to Eastern Kentucky University (though I'm sure he was really a UK Wildcat fan).

Rita and I were there when "Billy Mac" was born. A few years later, I was able to be there when their precious daughter, Mandy, was born, too.

Bill, Sharon, Mandy, and youngest son Josh came to visit us in Colorado (and we tried our best to talk them into moving there).

Josh was a great wrestler and an amazing young man who was lost in a car accident in college. I know that devastated Bill and Sharon - but in that terrible moment, they were surrounded with so much love that they surely knew God was holding them close.

Bill and Sharon came to North Carolina for our daughter's wedding. It was just so right to have them with us at that special time.

When Bill got sick, Rita and I went to visit them... and Bill was determined to beat the cancer that was attacking his body. That lousy disease had no idea who it had picked a fight with - and my money was on my friend.

A few short months ago we spent a couple of days with Bill and Sharon in Hilton Head. Bill had already gone several rounds with the cancer, but still looked tough and able to go the distance.

But cancer doesn't stop after 12 rounds.
It still uses Queensberry Rules that can last over 50 rounds, with each round ending when a fighter is knocked down. Bill Lynch kept getting up and fought with every ounce of strength he had. You'd expect no less from Bill.

Last night at 8:00 PM, Bill was unable to continue that fight. But what a valiant battle... and in the end, Death won nothing. My friend stood in the middle of the ring with Christ holding his arm high above his head. Bill's faith won eternity.

Bill Lynch will always be my "best" friend. Over the years we didn't get to spend many hours together... but the few hours we had were always special and I will cherish them forever.

I look forward to seeing my friend again.

My prayers are with you Sharon & your family. So sorry to hear the passing of Bill. A great & wonderful guy. As I spoke at a good friend funeral in late Dec, he was a Yankee fan & I quote the great Lou Gerhig ' I feel I'm the luckiest person on the face of earth'. You can say that of Bill. You were the 'Luckiest' person to have married Bill. Cherish the memories, they go on for life. Bless you & your family!! Billy
