William Aldrich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 14, 2017.

After a short battle with cancer, William Eugene ("Gene") Aldrich left this earth on September 12, 2017, surrounded by his family, to enter the arms of his loving Savior and be to reunited with family and friends. Gene was born December 5, 1930 in Grayson County, Texas, the firstborn child of Andrew and Amy Aldrich. He grew up helping support his family by working on different farms in north and west Texas. Gene served in the US Army as an infantryman during the Korean War. He also served a short term in the US Air Force before receiving a medical discharge. Gene married the love of his life, Betty Lane, on January 2, 1961 in Arkansas. In 1967 they moved to Baytown, Texas where he learned the carpentry trade. He spent the remainder of his life honing his carpentry skills, building houses, cabinets, and furniture for many people in the Baytown area. Gene attended the Baytown Revival Center, and loved the fellowship he received there. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Aldrich; parents; brothers, Lee Roy Aldrich and Bennie Aldrich; and sister Anna Faye Lane. He is survived by his children: Sherry White (Larry) of Beach City; Connie Prior of New Caney; and Larry Aldrich (Michelle) of Rowlett, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a loving Papa to 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521. Arrangements are under the direction of Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521; (281) 422-8181.
