William Henry "Bill" Scheil, died October 30, 2012, at age 92. Bill was a WWII B-17 Pilot, and a German prison camp survivor, he achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and was awarded the POW Medal of Honor, and the Purple Heart. His business career was spent in the mechanical contracting field.
He is survived by Ruth Louise Scheil, his devoted wife of 67 years; brother, Kenneth Scheil;, daughter, Patricia Louise Scheil; and sons, William Henry (Barbara) Scheil, Jr., and James Lester (Deborah) Scheil; along with five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Karl Eric Scheil, and grandson William Andrew Scheil.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday November 3, in the chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to the EAA B-17 Program, PO Box 3086, Oshkosh, WI, 54903. Arrangements by Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, Fort Wayne.
