William Leon Wilkinson, William "Bud" "Tex" Wilkinson, 92 Passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 in Hanford, California. He was born at home in Arlington, Texas on January 19, 1922 to William Murphy Wilkinson and Lillian Beatrice (Girod) Wilkinson. He was raised with his siblings; one brother, Jack Wilkinson and two sisters, Lena Mae Wilkinson and Margret Wilkinson. They all lived in the Arlington and Fort Worth, Texas areas. William Leon Wilkinson, William "Bud" "Tex" Wilkinson, 92 Passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 in Hanford, California. He was born at home in Arlington, Texas on January 19, 1922 to William Murphy Wilkinson and Lillian Beatrice (Girod) Wilkinson. He was raised with his siblings; one brother, Jack Wilkinson and two sisters, Lena Mae Wilkinson and Margret Wilkinson. They all lived in the Arlington and Fort Worth, Texas areas. Bud graduated from Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth, Texas and then later joined the U. S Army Air Corp. on January 28, 1942, at Lubbock, Texas. He proudly served as Sergeant in World War II, as a Weather Observer. He served two years, ten months and twelve days in Foreign Service; in Belgium, Italy, France, England, Germany, Africa, Scotland, Libya and Algiers. Tex was state side at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and Lemoore Army Air Base. Later he received EAME Campaign Medal with 8 bronze stars, Good Conduct medal; One service stripe and 5 Overseas Service Bars.
Once he returned home, Bud was able to complete his education, where he attended; Texas Tech. for 2 1/2 years, then Fresno State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drafting and Engineering degree.

William then married Doris Irene (Holmes) Wilkinson on May 5, 1946, and they were happily married until her passing on June 5, 1963. Together they had two sons; Larry L. Wilkinson and Calvin J. Wilkinson. Later he then married Norma Jean (Blancett) Wilkinson on April 25, 1970 and have been truly in love ever since!!!

As a young man Bud worked picking watermelons and on oil derricks in Texas. He also drove a taxi cab in Fresno, California while attending Fresno State College. Bud taught school for a short time after graduating from Fresno State College. He worked for the City of Hanford, Coalinga and Stockton, California as a Draftsman, Engineer and Building Inspector for over 35 years. Bud also worked as a Private Construction Inspector for many years and did some Substitute Teaching after retiring from civil service.

William was preceded in death by his parents; William M. & Lillian B. Wilkinson, his sister, who passed at birth; Lillian Mary and his sister, who passed at the age of 15 from an auto accident; Margaret Wilkinson and his first wife; Doris I. Wilkinson. He also was preceded in death by his step-grandson; Rob Blancett.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife of almost 44 years; Jean Wilkinson of Hanford, California. He also leaves behind his two sons; Larry L. Wilkinson and his wife; Lynne of Hanford, California and Calvin J. Wilkinson and his wife; Linda Blancett Wilkinson of Hanford, California. He also has two stepsons; Mike Blancett of Visalia, California and Pat Blancett and his life partner; Robert Donvito of Canyon Country, California. He is also survived by his brother; Jack Wilkinson of El Paso, Texas and his sister; Lena Mae Milard of Austin, Texas. Bud will be cherished dearly by his granddaughters; Jennifer Wilkinson of Hanford, California, Sherry Villalobos and her husband Jeff Woods of Spokane, Washington and especially by his granddaughter; Lori McCormick and her husband, Jamie of Hanford, California. He has a grandson who will also miss him; Drew Wilkinson and his wife Erika of Albany, New York. Bud won't be forgotten by his step-grandsons; Michael Blancett and his wife Lori of Arroyo Grande, California and Matt Blancett of Hanford, California. Bud also leaves behind to cherish him his 10 great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. all at People's Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at San Joaquin National Cemetery; 32053 W. McCabe Road, Santa Nella, CA 95322 209-854-1040.
