As a new Christian & graduate student in 1969, I found Dr. Diedrich to be one of my favorite professors: a man whose understated faith was foundational to his great work ethic & wry wit. A compassionate yet learned man in his field, I am grateful for having been one of your students. God's grace to your family at this time. Dee Bury, SLP, Class 1970

Willie was a wonderful man, extremely smart with a quick wit, always ready to serve. He could size-up the situation and find a solution. He was a true Christian man, a stalwart of Roanoke Presbyterian Church where I learned how to live my life. I am grateful for people like Willie who were such important role models. My husband and children, also, were very fond of the Diedrichs, and we were thrilled when he and B. J. could attend our daughter's wedding in late 2013. Willie is the only person I have known who liked to hunt turkeys and not a Thanksgiving goes by that I don't think of him.
Heaven must find him a welcome addition, though he will be sorely missed here; yet he leaves so many with a sense of gratitude for having known him.
