William N. (Bill) Driskill, Jr. of Homewood passed away March 31, 2015. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Fellowship and Friendship Sunday Classes. He attended Ramsey High School and UAB. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from October 1941 to October 1945 with 27 months in the South Pacific on Guadalcanal and New Caledonia with the American Division. On his second tour of duty he was in Korea with the Second Infantry Division from 1951 – 1953. He received the Bronze Star Medal during this tour.
One of the highlights of his life was the Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C. in 2009 to visit the World War II and Korean Memorials.
He was predeceased by his parents, William N. Driskill, Sr. and Ollie H. Driskill and by his brother Charles C. Driskill, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Florence Myrnie Huff Driskill, nieces: Sue Hitchcock, Mickey Moran (Jim) of California, Julie Huff-Hannon (John) of Maryland, Lelie Huff of Georgia and nephews C.C. Driskill, Jr. of California and Ross Huff of Georgia, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood on Saturday April 4th at 3:00 with visitation at 2:00.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209, The Birmingham Humane Society or to your favorite charity.
