Obituary

Bill Plant, 77, of Bryan passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan. Visitation will be held Monday, July 21, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery in Bryan with Deacon Sam Valadez officiating. Bill was born to William Q. Bill Plant, 77, of Bryan passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan. Bill was born to William Q. Plant, Sr. and Alberta Rowland Plant in the Hix Community in Burleson County, and was raised and attended school in Caldwell, TX. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the American Legion, he was a Gold Circle member of the VFW, and a Commanders Club member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Bill's career was spent as a Service Advisor to numerous auto dealerships, and in management for Firestone and Exxon. Bill's passion and hobby was refurbishing and restoring old tractors. He also looked forward to, and enjoyed his affiliation and his many friends associated with his dance group. He was a member of the Shiro Baptist Church, and had served as a Deacon in his previous Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother James A. Plant.

His survivors include two daughters; Connie Mantey and husband Ricky of Somerville, Brenda Hayes and Mark Davidson of College Station; one son, William Dale Plant of Cleburne; grandchildren, Ricky Mantey, Jr. and wife Kara, Patrick Mantey and wife Erin, all of Caldwell, Holli Hayes Niemeyer and husband John Adam of College Station, and Collin Hayes of Austin; great-grandchildren Kenner, Kanzie, Kyleigh and Kingsley Mantey, and Harper Niemeyer.

He is also survived by his longtime companion, Sue Meadors of Bryan and her children, whom he loved dearly, Kenny and Tammy Meadors, Gina and Morton Ortiz, Kim and Sam Valadez; and grandchildren, Taylor and Austin Valadez and Gabriella Ortiz all of Bryan; his sister, Patsy Phipps and her husband David of Bryan; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Plant of Carthage; along with a nephew, nieces, and numerous friends.
