William Robert "Bob" Henderson, of Arlington Heights was born November 19, 1937 in Cambridge, Ohio to William Revere and Roberta (nee Todd) Henderson and passed away September 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis C. (nee Piotrowski) Henderson; loving father of Douglas (Lisa) Henderson, Pamela (John) Dolniak, Donna (Joe) Bitz and Diana (Mike) Hrametz; cherished grandfather of Kailey, Rachael, Kaitie, Jessica, Jenny, Michael and Nicky and dear brother of Betty Yonker, Elaine (Jim) Callihan and Marlene (John) Gombeda. Bob was named an "All Ohio", and "All American" football player in high school and college. He accepted a scholarship and played collegiate football at the University of Illinois for Coach Ray Elliott. It was there he met the love of his life, Phyllis. They enjoyed a fairytale life together – valuing family, church, and his passion for teaching and coaching football in District 214. In their retirement they enjoyed traveling the world, spending time with family, and seeing Bob's high school football jersey retired in Ohio. In his last year Bob fought ALS with courage and dignity. Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 3-7 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights and Monday, September 19 at St. Raymond De Penafort Church, Elmhurst Road (Rt. 83) and Lincoln Streets, Mt. Prospect from 9:00 AM until time of funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Arlington Heights Wheeling Township Cemetery.

Our condolences to the complete Henderson family. Bob was a great neighbor and a great man. I still remember him and Phyllis coming to our house the first day after we bought it with a plate of cookies welcoming us! We had some good times and fun conversations. I always looked forward to seeing him, telling us about his trips or him showing off riding his scooter in front of our house! And also him playing with our girls. May you rest in peace Bob. Say hi to Phyllis for us. Rick, Catia, Alessa and Arianna

There are some people who come into our lives that we will never forget. Bob is one if them. He made a difference in all whose lives he touched. I am so glad to have been one of those people. My prayers go out to Meize and all of his family as we say farewell to our friend and their loved one!

A giant of a man. Happy he was able to see his dream of building a beautiful home in Door County. He gave anything for those he loved. He loved well & genuinely with a kind and forgiving heart. Someone we can all learn something from. I love you Bob - Chrissy Foster

To the Family of Bob Henderson. While I was a student at Forest View High School (class of 1984), Mr. Henderson was one of my football coaches. He was a coach who was great at teaching us how to play the game and truly cared about teaching us how to be good men.
Please find peace in knowing he had a positive impact on so many young men along his way.

We are so saddened by the loss of Bob and extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family. We will always be thankful that Bob came into our lives and that we had the opportunity to share many life experiences with him. His intelligence, wit, charm and caring heart made him a very 'special' person. We loved him and he will be sorely missed.
