Grapevine Texas--William Robert "Bill" Jones, 87, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Atria Assisted Living Center in Grapevine of heart failure.
He leaves his wife of 68 years, Patricia Jones, his sister, Mary Jett, his sons Dale Jones and Jim Jones, his daughter Lynn Warren, and son Chuck Jones who preceded him in death.
He also leaves 8 grandchildren; Scott Jones, Jennifer Keifrider, Chris Jones, Stephanie Cummings, Austin Jones, Dustin Jones, Sarah Warren, and Dylan Warren, as well as 3 nieces and nephews and 6 great-grand children.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Robert Damon and Evelyn Jones, he worked on the family farm near Stanton Kansas until his father died while Bill was a young teen. The remaining family sold the farm and moved to Kansas City. Bill worked various jobs as a teen from laying railroad track to making pies in a bakery. He met his wife Pat at Rosedale High School in Kansas City, and the two married after graduating. In 1948, Bill joined the Missouri Army National Guard, serving for 10 years and attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. During this time, Bill attended community college, studying architecture and technical drawing. Bill started his long career in the leasing industry as a mechanic with International Harvester in the early 50's. His career in the industry progressed through several promotions and he attained the final position of Zone Manager in Chicago for Hertz Truck Rental before opening his own rental business with Pat in Plano, Texas. They successfully ran The Rent-All Place until their mid-seventies, when they decided it was time to retire to their 30 acre home in McKinney, Texas. It wasn't exactly a farm, and it wasn't exactly a ranch. As far as animals, it had two donkeys and a dog--but it was reminiscent of his boyhood farm days and he and Pat loved the peace and tranquility there for more than 10 years, finally moving to Ft. Worth, Texas and then most recently to Atria Assisted Living Center in Grapevine Texas.
Bill and Pat had been members of First Baptist Church of Keller for more than 10 years, and cherished many friends there. Bill and Pat's marriage of 68 years was a love story from the first day they met, until they parted holding hands at Bill's passing this past Saturday.

Dale Jones
My dear dad. You are courageous, faithful in Christ, and worthy of holding up as an example of a strong Christian man. I love you and wanted more time with you. I'll miss you every day of my life. But I know you are with our Lord, and I look forward, God willing, to seeing you again. All my love. Dale
