Bill would like you to know… upon fear of having his driving and roaming privileges revoked, he has opted to take that grand highway to heaven where he can endlessly enjoy cruising in his car, laughing, fishing and eating anything he wants and reuniting with his beloved baby sister.
Bill was 88 years old when he peacefully went home to his heavenly father on 9/5/17. He is preceded in death by his sister Shirley Nelson. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary, who we all know, spoiled him terribly! (thank-you Mom); his beloved daughter, Linda Bacheler and her husband, Scott, and his children Tori, Christi, Jeff and Tim Bacheler; his beloved daughter, Sharon Griffin and her husband Jim and their children, Shannon Kiefhaber and her husband Andy; and of course, Kayla Griffin. He had one great grandson, Austin and has another great-grandson due to be born in December. He is also survived by his sister Doris Bush and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill is remembered by family and friends foremost as a loving family man, always encouraging all of us to do our best and showing his belief in us with his constant words of affirmation. He would do anything for his family and we will miss him terribly. He is also remembered for his 44 year career with Norfolk Southern Railway, which ended when he retired as a District Sales Manager at the age of 57. He moved to Stuart, FL in 1990. He was an avid "fisherman", spending as much time as he could at his second home in Big Pine Key, FL. He is remembered as a person who took great joy and pleasure in the simplest things and was always "on a mission" and had a great laugh that was infectious. Bill was also a proud veteran of the Korean War.
Please join us to celebrate his life on 9/16/17 at 1:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1200 E. 10th Street, Stuart, FL. with Father Noel officiating. Directly thereafter, there will be a procession to Fernhill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, 1501 E. Kanner Hwy. Stuart, Fl. Finally, we would welcome you at an Open House at Mom's (Mary's House) house at 7 River Crest Ct., Stuart, FL.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in Bill's name to St. Joseph School Scholarship Fund, 1200 E. 10th Street, Stuart, Fl 34995 or charity of your choosing.

My relationship with the. Bennion family came as a result of a rare, special friendship with Bill's daughter, Sharon, after college graduation. To love Sharon (& the rest of the gang) was to love her Mom and Dad. Bill was the kind of Father who made me feel like I was an important part of the family-kind, positive.
My heart truly hurts for the loss of your Dad and Mary, your husband.
Faith helps through the loss of his presence here by giving us the knowledge that he really is cruising on a heavenly ocean in his boat totally rigged for catching the BIG one. May God ease the hurt of your loss.

There are no words to express my broken heart over the loss of my dear brother,Bill. He was one in a trillion. I thank the Lord for the blessing of his attending my 90th birthday party just a few days ago. After our tears subsided we had a private luncheon just the two of us which he appreciated so much. When he left we had an other tear session, little did we know it would be our last. Thank you Lord for that wonderful blessing. Your big sister,Doris
